Williamsburg Aquatic Club 2026-2027
Harold Baker
Head Coach, Founder
Harold Baker founded the Williamsburg Aquatic Club in 1979 and has coached it ever since. The 2026–27 season will be his 55th year in coaching.
He started swimming in 1966 with the Jefferson City Scorpions. After his family moved to Newport News in 1968, he swam for the Village Green Patriots (a team he would later coach) and for the VPSU AAU year-round club. His mother started the VPSU summer league in 1969. In 1974 he joined the William & Mary swim team, where he swam all four years and earned his letter.
In 1979, the retiring coach talked him into coaching the Kingswood Klams. By the end of that summer, a group of parents had asked him to start a year-round club, and that fall WAC was born. He has coached WAC and the Klams ever since, and in 1992 he took over the Lafayette High School team as well.
